Residential Counselor/ Para-professional

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration in accordance with medical records and treatment plans
• Monitor and document vital signs, behavior patterns, and progress using HIPAA-compliant medical documentation systems
• Implement behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis techniques to support client development and reduce challenging behaviors
• Respond effectively to crisis situations through crisis intervention and crisis management protocols to ensure safety for all individuals involved
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on treatment goals, progress reports, and medical records updates
• Support clients during community outings or therapeutic activities while maintaining safety and adherence to medical terminology standards

Experience

• Prior experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not necessary
• Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively while maintaining professional boundaries
• Strong documentation skills for medical records, behavioral data collection, and progress notes are necessary
