The Options Program is a one-day-a-week school for Homeschoolers. We are looking for a part time (20 hrs or less per week) counselor for our four different locations: Greeley, Brighton, Denver and Aurora. Travel to these sites will be required as needed throughout the school year. Some work can be done remotely throughout the year.
This job has the following duties/responsibilities:
- Communicate with parents/guardians of students attending the program, both in person and by phone, that require 504 accommodations. Schedule and facilitate all 504 meetings and review meetings. Meet with parents of students with special needs who are wishing to enroll their child in Options.
- May be asked to observe students enrolled in Options to confirm teacher observations. When necessary, enter into conversations with parents about their child’s classroom behavior.
- Review past testing results, previous IEP’s or 504’s, and other documentation to determine if the child’s educational and/or emotional needs are appropriate for the Option program.
- Manage Concurrent Enrollment- Network with partnering community colleges and technical schools to streamline the processes of enrolling students
- Conduct orientations with Concurrent Enrollment students- those who take college classes while in High School.
- Create and disseminate articles helpful to homeschool parents (Options Retention policy, transcripts and the homeschool student, advantages of community colleges, etc.)
- Support students and parents with Post-Secondary and Workforce options, including college admission, Concurrent Enrollment, Pickens Technical College and curriculum for the college bound.
- Recommend students for scholarships, write letters of recommendation, prepare and process the school portion of college applications.
- Participate in establishing policies and procedures for the Options School.
- Collaborate with site coordinators and school leadership
- Attend monthly coordinator meetings.
- Participate in Options Staff meetings and provide insight with regard to educational issues. Meetings may be held at various locations.
- Create a calendar for counselor-related site visits and communicate that calendar with appropriate individuals.
- Work with sites on supporting students' social emotional needs.
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Licensure required:
- Master’s or higher degree in School Counseling
- Hold a Colorado Special Services Provider license or is currently eligible for one with the appropriate endorsement for this position.
