What you will be doing: Responsible for maintaining dormitory living conditions, provide general maintenance, report any major maintenance issues and assist with deliveries to the campus to keep in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential functions:
1. Patrol and monitor dormitories and center as required to ensure safety and proper behavior of students; and resolve potential or occurring problems.
2. Direct students or assist in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.
3. Recommend or requisition supplies to provide needs for dorm living and safety of students.
4. Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment.
5. Conduct required health and safety inspections, submit necessary work orders and monitor for satisfactory completion.
6. Assist with ensuring all students have exited the dormitory areas each morning before the training day.
7. Distribute mail and appointment cards to each campus daily.
8. Pick up and distribute orders and supplies to each dorm/office/luggage bank.
9. Assist with overall routine preventative maintenance in the dormitories (light bulbs, diffusers, trash).
10. Assist with packing student belongings for departure.
11. Assist with cafeteria monitoring when necessary.
12. Keep GSA vehicles serviced and gas tanks full.
13. Prepare new arrival ditty bags for students and distribute to dormitories.
14. Assist with luggage bank inventories. Inventory of all items should be kept up to date on a daily basis.
15. Keep documentation of all outgoing and incoming items/orders housed in luggage banks.
16. Assist with dorm activities when necessary.
17. Patrol and monitor dormitories on a consistent basis to ensure safety; assist with resolving any potential or occurring problems.
18. Assist with directing and education work base learning students assigned to residential areas.
19. Conduct daily inspections of dormitories and surrounding dormitory grounds, report concerns as necessary.
20. Participate in property management duties such as conduct scheduled inventory checks. Securing property and reporting missing property.
21. Distribute luggage and personal items to students.
22. Take student’s belongings to the Post Office on center and have mailed once student is separated.
23. Move furniture with proper documentation when necessary, such as TVs. Microwaves, and refrigerators.
24. Check windows and doors in the dorms, to ensure the security of the dorms.
25. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
26. It is expected that the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
27. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
28. Participate in student employability programs and activities.
29. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
30. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
31. Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
32. Cultivate and maintain a climate on center which is free of harassment, intimidation and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education & experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required one year experience in counseling, social work, rehabilitation or vocational guidance preferred. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
