    Job Goal

    The Elementary School Counselor is responsible for assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of an effective counseling program designed to promote academic/educational, personal/social, and career development. This position will also be responsible for consulting regularly with teachers, administrators, nurses, psychologists, other school personnel and community inter-agencies. The counselor helps bring together the full resources available in the school to satisfy each child's individual needs to develop the child's maximum potential.

    Qualifications:
    • Valid PA Certification as an Elementary School Counselor.
    • Experience with counseling and supporting elementary students; individual, small group and classroom lessons; understanding and implementation of RtI/multi-tiered systems of behavior interventions; data collection; implementing FBAs, etc.
    • Ability to plan and implement a school guidance curriculum for all students that will address personal, social, and academic needs.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teams, including special education teams, and provide parents with suggestions for social services and supports.
    • Trained in crisis intervention and counseling techniques/theories.
    • An understanding of the continuum of mental health services, including prevention and intervention strategies to enhance student success
    • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and build relationships with students and parents to promote student achievement and strengthen community partnerships.

    Note:
    All employment is considered provisional for up to 90 days in accordance with Act 168 of 2014, pending receipt of required employment history reviews.
