Overview: The Chemical Dependency Prevention Counselor is responsible for providing school-based crisis intervention, prevention counseling (individual, family and group) and case management services to youth. The Counselor provides support for problem solving as well as information and referral services. They are responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments with the student. The Counselor will develop an Individual Service Plan with a youth that includes the direct services provided by the Counselor, school staff, as well as referral linkages to other community agencies and school services. Schedule: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. 11- month positionLocation: East High School Responsibilities:Intake and AssessmentIndividual and Family Prevention CounselingAssessment of substance use/abuse, problem gambling and other risk factorsCoordination and facilitation of groups and workshopsCrisis Intervention/TriageCase ManagementAgency ambassador and liaison at meetings, open houses and health fairsOutreach to SchoolTransportation for program participants when necessary and consistent with agency and school policyRequired Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree AND 1 year counseling experience OR Equivalent / Master's Degree preferredCPP/ ICSP/ CASAC, advanced training in chemical dependency prevention preferred Skills: Knowledge of Adolescent development issues Basic knowledge of counseling approaches and techniques and crisis interventionStrong time management skills Pay Rate: $19- $12 per hour The Center for Youth Provides Equal Employment Opportunities
