Lead Counselor

Lead Counselors serve as primary leaders of a camper group and as experienced members of the camp team. They participate in professional development during team orientation and ongoing team meetings. The Lead Counselor is responsible for managing a group of campers each day as they rotate through activities and program areas, ensuring both physical and emotional safety at all times.

Lead Counselors establish strong group culture, proactively manage behavior, and partner with Co-Counselors to create a structured, joyful, and inclusive environment. They ensure campers participate fully in all activities, build meaningful friendships, and develop independence, curiosity, confidence, and responsibility. Lead Counselors model professionalism and leadership within the camp community and report directly to the site lead.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with children in camp, school, or youth settings
  • Strong group management and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions and prioritize safety
  • Ability to mentor and guide less-experienced team members
  • Professional, reliable, and mission-aligned

Co-Counselor

Co-Counselors serve as supporting members of the camp team and participate in professional development during team orientation and ongoing team meetings. Co-Counselors work in partnership with the Lead Counselor to supervise and support a group of campers throughout the day as they rotate through activities and program areas.

Co-Counselors help ensure campers’ physical and emotional safety, reinforce group expectations, and actively engage with campers to foster a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment. This role is designed for individuals who are developing their leadership skills and are eager to learn, receive feedback, and grow within a youth development setting. Co-Counselors report directly to the site lead and work under the guidance of the Lead Counselor.

  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively
  • Positive attitude and willingness to grow in a leadership role

Pay: $50.00 - $100.00 per day
