POSITION OVERVIEW
NYEG is seeking a compassionate, talented, and experienced Music Therapist to lead weekly sessions for older adults in community-based settings. The ideal candidate will use music as a therapeutic tool to promote emotional well-being, cognitive stimulation, memory recall, and social engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitate interactive music therapy sessions tailored to the needs and abilities of senior participants.
Use instruments, singing, rhythm, and music-based activities to support memory, mood, and motor coordination.
Create a warm, inclusive, and supportive environment for emotional expression and connection.
Adapt session content for various levels of cognitive and physical functioning.
Collaborate with site staff and NYEG’s Director of Operations to schedule sessions, report progress, and adjust programming as needed.
Set up and clean up materials and instruments before and after each session.

REQUIREMENTS

Degree or certification in Music Therapy or related field.
Experience working with seniors, including individuals with dementia or physical limitations.
Strong musical proficiency (vocal and/or instrumental).
Empathetic, patient, and skilled in adapting to individual and group needs.
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
