Position: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

About Us: The Shirley Aninias School is a private, 12-month behavior-based elementary program serving neurodiverse students ages 4–13. We create highly individualized programs that address each child’s academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs. Position Overview: The BCBA , under the direction of the Clinical Director, will lead the design, implementation, and oversight of behavior intervention strategies school-wide, ensuring all interventions are evidence-based, data-driven, and responsive to individual student needs. The BCBA will provide direct training, support, and coaching to instructional staff. This is a 12-month, full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Behavioral Program Development & Oversight
    • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
    • Ensure behavior plans are consistent with student goals and are implemented with fidelity across settings.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate behavioral goals into academic and social-emotional programming.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, revising as necessary.
  • Supervision & Staff Training
    • Provide ongoing supervision, training, and mentorship to Behavior Interventionists and instructional staff.
    • Model appropriate behavioral interventions and de-escalation strategies in classroom settings.
    • Maintain instructor certification in Safety-Care ™ and/or other school designated crisis prevention programs.
    • Regularly monitor crisis responses and assess staff proficiency in de-escalation/crisis prevention techniques and provide feedback.
      • Determine if additional or re-training is required.
    • Offer constructive feedback and facilitate skill-building opportunities for team members.
  • Data Collection & Analysis
    • Supervise accurate data collection procedures and ensure consistent tracking of student behavior.
    • Guide staff in using the School’s CR LiftED data platform; assist in training and troubleshooting as needed.
    • Analyze data regularly to inform decisions and adjustments to intervention plans.
  • Crisis Intervention & Support
    • Coordinate the school’s crisis response team and oversee safety protocols during behavioral emergencies.
    • Provide on-site support during crisis events and conduct post-incident reviews to improve future responses.
  • Family & Team Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with families about behavior support strategies and student progress.
    • Participate in IEP meetings and other planning sessions as needed.
    • Partner with the Assistant Principal to align behavioral practices with school-wide expectations.
    • Participate in school management meetings as required.
    • Maintain neutral and calm temperament

Physical Requirements and Essential Functions:
  • Must be able to physically assist and de-escalate students using school-approved techniques (training provided).
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver classroom furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of students.
  • Support students during transitions and physical activities, including running, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.
  • Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications:
  • Required: Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
  • Required: Current BCBA certification in good standing.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a school or clinical setting with neurodiverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and support diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Flexible, compassionate, and passionate about student-centered practices.
  • Desired: Completion of 8-hour BCBA supervision course.
