Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Part-Time Certified Peer Support Specialist to serve in Pitt, Martin, Bertie, Beaufort and surrounding counties. Responsibilities
- Offer empathetic peer support to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, utilizing your personal recovery journey as a foundation for mentorship and encouragement
- Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management when urgent situations arise, ensuring safety and stabilization for clients
- Facilitate motivational interviewing techniques to help clients explore their goals and motivate change
- Assist clients in navigating behavioral health services, including providing guidance on treatment options and community resources
- Document interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards
- Collaborate with clinical staff to develop individualized recovery plans that incorporate peer support strategies
- Promote social engagement and community integration by encouraging participation in support groups and local activities
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in NC
- Lived experience with mental health conditions, substance use recovery, or behavioral health challenges, demonstrating personal resilience and insight
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles, addiction counseling, and mental health counseling techniques
- Experience with mentoring others and providing motivational interviewing to foster positive change
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
- Excellent communication skills with an energetic and positive approach to supporting others
