Looking for a way to help at-risk young people in the state of Alabama? You could join the team at the Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Inc. We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time LICENSED social worker at our Baldwin County Boys Ranch. The Ranches are a 501(c)(3) financially sound organization founded by the Sheriffs of Alabama in 1966. Our mission is to provide Christian, family-style residential homes for Alabama's needy young people in an atmosphere where they may grow spiritually and physically into productive, responsible, and happy adults.

Social Workers provide social services to each child admitted as they move through the program including intake/admissions, individual, group and family counseling, and discharge. Throughout the process, they are instrumental in crisis intervention, mediation, prevention, and development. Social Workers work with a child and his/her family to establish a healthy relationship where children can grow spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to intake and admission of ranchers, performing various social work requirements, discharges as needed, good work ethic, working well in a team setting, and completing paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.

Education and experience requirements include:

· A minimum of one of the following:

o Licensed Bachelor Social Worker (LBSW)

o Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

o Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

o Professional Counselor licensed under Alabama law

o Psychologist licensed under Alabama law

· An understanding of child development as well as family and group dynamics.

· An understanding of systems theory and its application, assessment, and testing.

· Ability to relate to a wide range of individuals from a social, economic, emotional, and spiritual aspect.

· Ability to share one’s faith and integrate it into one’s professional duties.

· Experience in counseling children, adolescents, older teens, and their families.

· Able to encourage and provide emotional support for House Parents.

· Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Ability to adjust to sudden changes in schedules.

· Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Applicants must be willing to work split schedules of morning and evenings on occasion to counsel with children and their families and in-service training of House Parents, and counseling with families, regularly attend church, agree with the Ranch’s Statement of Faith.

Applicants must also never have been shown by credible evidence (e.g. a court or jury, department investigation, or other reliable evidence) to have abused, neglected, sexually exploited, or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained at the time of application.'
