Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor treatment efficacy, and adjust plans accordingly while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide psychotherapy and behavioral health interventions tailored to individual needs, working with patients across varied age groups.
  • Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and case managers to develop integrated care plans for patients in outpatient, inpatient, or assisted living settings.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms for remote consultations and follow-up appointments to expand access to mental health services.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR systems, maintaining detailed medical records in accordance with NCQA standards.
  • Participate in clinical research initiatives related to psychopharmacology or mental health treatment innovations to advance evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license with certification in Psychiatry or Mental Health Nursing.
  • Proven experience working with behavioral health patients in diverse settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, or outpatient clinics.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and telehealth technology is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 coding, CPT procedures related to mental health treatments is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacology including psychotropic medications and injection administration techniques.
  • Critical care experience or hospital medicine background preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective triage, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
