As a School-Based Behavioral Specialist, (Internal title: Pinocchio Specialist) with Compass Health Network, you’ll work directly within partnering school districts to support early identification and early intervention for students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. In this role, you’ll collaborate with educators, families, and care teams to help young children develop social-emotional skills, strengthen resilience, and thrive both in school and at home.

Schedule is 32-40 hours weekly in alignment with the school daily/academic year schedule.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about early childhood mental health and enjoys working closely with schools and families to support student success. You’ll play a key role in identifying needs early, providing supportive interventions, and connecting families with resources that promote wellness and stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen students in assigned K–3 grades to identify early behavioral and emotional support needs
  • Provide observation, consultation, and early intervention services for students eligible for the Pinocchio Program
  • Facilitate weekly individual or small-group sessions that support social-emotional skill development
  • Collaborate with school staff and families to coordinate eligibility, programming, and ongoing support
  • Serve as a liaison between families, schools, and Compass Health services
  • Provide mental health consultation and education to school personnel
  • Develop and implement child and family support plans in partnership with caregivers and providers
  • Maintain timely documentation and support program outcomes through productivity and utilization review activities


Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelor’s or Master's degree required (preferably in psychology, social work, rehabilitation/vocational/pastoral counseling, family therapy or closely-related field)
QUALIFICATION(S): WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
At least one (1) year of applicable experience required
