Job Summary
The Financial Aid Counselor II assists prospective and current students with all matters related to acquiring and maintaining financial aid.
Duties
- Completes the verification process for students; verifies that the information provided on FAFSA correctly reflects the information on the IRS Tax Transcript
- Reviews each ISIR file to determine if it needs to be loaded into PeopleSoft for review
- Reviews student Satisfactory Academic Plan appeals
- Determines if progress has been made
- Suspends students and removes aid if no progress is made
- Liaises with students as necessary via email, phone, or in-person to keep them up-to-date with their status
- Runs reports and queries

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience
License/Certification:
- None required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Understanding of federal and state regulations that govern financial aid eligibility in higher education, and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices
- Knowledge of relevant Department of Education websites, including COD, NSLDS. and FAA Access
Skills:
- Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office and PeopleSoft; strong analytical and problem
- solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities:
- Ability to use independent judgment
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
- Individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
- Must have precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
- Must have the ability to move items of up to 15lbs
