School Psychologist
Location: Chatsworth 2 days, Lancaster 2 days, and Oxnard 1 day. May change depending on the campuses needs.
Position Summary
The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to students with significant behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges. This role supports students ages 5–22 with severe behavioral needs by conducting assessments, developing behavior and intervention plans, collaborating with staff and families, and ensuring a safe and supportive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct psychoeducational and behavioral assessments to identify students’ cognitive, emotional, and social needs.
- Administer and interpret standardized tests, observations, and functional behavior assessments (FBA).
- Prepare detailed reports to guide individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavioral support plans.
- Intervention & Support
- Develop and implement evidence-based intervention strategies, including behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and crisis prevention protocols.
- Provide direct counseling and social-emotional support to students individually and in small groups.
- Support classroom management systems to reduce aggression, self-injury, elopement, and other high-risk behaviors.
- Collaborate with staff on implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies and other behavioral supports.
- Consultation & Collaboration
- Serve as a key member of the IEP team; provide input on goals, accommodations, and modifications.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and related service providers to ensure consistency in student support.
- Partner with families to provide resources, strategies, and ongoing communication regarding student progress and behavior management.
- Crisis Management
- Assist with de-escalation, crisis intervention, and safety planning during behavioral incidents.
- Train and support staff in the use of trauma-informed practices and positive behavior interventions.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, services, and progress.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or related field.
- Current CA credential/licensure as a School Psychologist.
- Experience working with students with severe behavioral and developmental disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of special education law, behavioral interventions, and trauma-informed practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate during high-stress situations.
The pay range for this role is:
100,000 - 135,000 USD per year(AACA Chatsworth)
