1099 Independent Contractor Position

Autism Family Services of Beaumont is seeking a professional and safety-focused Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT), or Behavior Technician (BT) to provide ABA services on a local school campus in Port Arthur.

This is a structured school-based pilot program delivering behavioral support, regulation strategies, and skill acquisition under the supervision of Jennifer Ramirez, M.Ed., LPC, LBA, ACAS.

Compensation

  • $15–$19 per hour
  • Pay based on certification level and experience
  • 1099 Independent Contractor position

Position Overview

The ABA Technician implements individualized behavior intervention plans developed by a Licensed Behavior Analyst. Services focus on communication skills, emotional regulation, adaptive functioning, and replacement behaviors.

This is an active, school-based role requiring professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to safely support students with high behavioral needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct ABA services in 1:1 and small group settings
  • Implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition protocols
  • Support classroom transitions and regulation strategies
  • Collect and record accurate behavioral data
  • Collaborate with supervising clinician and campus staff
  • Prepare visual supports and instructional materials
  • Complete session documentation and progress notes

Required Qualifications

  • Active RBT or ABAT certification preferred
  • Experienced Behavior Technicians will be considered
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with neurodivergent individuals
  • Experience working in a school setting required
  • Experience supporting students with high rates, frequency, and magnitude of maladaptive behaviors, including:
  • Elopement
  • Aggression
  • Self-injurious behaviors
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during escalation
  • Reliable transportation
  • This position requires confidence and composure when supporting students with significant behavioral needs in a structured school environment.
  • Applicants must be comfortable working in a physically active environment and committed to maintaining consistency even during challenging behavioral situations.

Physical Requirements

This is an active role. Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Run in response to elopement
  • Bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and engage in physical activity
  • Maintain stamina throughout the school day

Compliance Requirements

  • Clear criminal background required
  • Fingerprinting required prior to placement
  • Must meet all school district contractor requirements

Schedule

  • Part-Time
  • 10–20 hours per week to start
  • Potential increase up to 30 hours within 60 days
  • Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–2:30 PM
