We are looking for someone with strong detail oriented, customer and communication skills. Also, someone who is compassionate, calm and has a professional presence. We need a professional who is team oriented and can work independently once properly trained. Experience in the funeral, cemetery, or sales/service roles in a plus.
This position offers an hourly wage plus commission. Family Service Counselors earn hourly pay for schedules work hours and the opportunity to earn additional commission on property, merchandise, and service arrangements. Strong earning potential for motivated candidates.
Responsibilities
- Provide empathetic guidance and support to grieving families, helping them understand available options and services.
- Coordinate funeral and memorial arrangements, including scheduling, logistics, and ensuring all details are handled with care.
- Assist families with selecting cemetery plots, memorial products, and other related services to meet their needs and preferences.
- Conduct event planning for memorial services, ensuring each ceremony is personalized and respectful.
- Support families through bereavement support initiatives, offering resources and comfort during their grieving process.
- Engage in sales activities by presenting service packages and cemetery offerings to prospective clients with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Enter contracts, service details with funeral homes, clergy and staff
- Attend and oversee burial services at cemetery
- Drive golf carts to escort families and transport throughout properties
- Verify locations, markers, and service details
- Communicate with grounds staff, office staff and funeral directors
- Maintain organized digital and physical records
Physical Work Environment
- Must be comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions
- Ability to walk the cemetery property frequently
- Professional appearance and demeanor required at all times
Skills
- Strong ability to provide compassionate bereavement support while maintaining professionalism.
- Experience or training in funeral service fields is highly desirable.
- Proven event planning skills to organize meaningful memorial ceremonies efficiently.
- Excellent sales skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build trust with families.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to connect with diverse individuals during sensitive moments.
- This position requires strong computer and technology skills. Applicants must be comfortable using modern office software, learning new systems quickly, and navigating our cemetery management software.
