Experteer Overview In this role you build and lead the Cooley Career Counseling Office to support attorneys exploring paths beyond the firm. You act as a trusted navigator, offering personalized guidance, resume and interview coaching, and connections to external opportunities. You will shape program offerings, manage a curated job board, and partner with cross-functional teams to align career development with firm strategy. Compensation / Benefits • Provide confidential one-on-one career counseling for attorneys exploring external roles (in-house, public sector, nonprofit, or other paths) • Guide career exploration, decision-making, and transition planning • Offer tailored feedback on resumes, LinkedIn, narratives, and job-search strategy • Conduct mock interviews and support hiring process at all levels • Manage and expand a curated job board with internal, government, secondment, and alumni-sourced postings • Develop relationships with legal recruiters, in-house counsel, and alumni to source postings • Create and run career-focused programs (panels, webinars) • Support secondment program through coordination with the Associate Director of Legal Talent • Collaborate with Marketing to connect departing attorneys to alumni support; work with BD to enhance client engagement • Track hiring trends and provide insights for strategic planning; maintain metrics on counseling volume and placements • Supervise and mentor direct reports; monitor work hours and policy compliance • Participate in hiring, performance appraisals, and other lifecycle events with HR and leadership • Other duties as assigned Tasks • 7+ years of experience in professional development, career counseling, recruiting, or related fields • 2+ years of exempt/management experience • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and iManage or similar firm applications • Ability to work extended/weekend hours and travel as required • Familiarity with legal markets, operations, and hiring needs • Demonstrated experience advising lawyers on career transitions (ideally including in-house moves) Key requirements • competitive compensation • excellent benefits package • firm-paid life insurance and AD&D • LTD and short-term medical benefits • Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays • parental leave and fertility benefits
