Certified Behavior Technician (CBT)

Pay Range: $26–$32 per hour
Location: Port Angeles School District
Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview

Burgio Educational Consulting Services (BECS) is seeking dedicated, student-centered Certified Behavior Technicians (CBTs) to join our growing team. In this role, you will work directly with students receiving behavioral, social-emotional, and academic support within K–12 school settings. BECS CBTs support inclusive education through high-quality behavior intervention, data collection, and collaboration with educators and BCBA supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behavior support to students with autism, developmental disabilities, or emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • Use evidence-based ABA strategies to teach communication, social, academic, and adaptive skills.
  • Collect accurate behavior and skill-acquisition data daily.
  • Assist teachers in maintaining structured, supportive learning environments.
  • Support students using AAC devices, visuals, schedules, and other communication systems.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies and trauma-informed practices when needed.
  • Maintain professional, ethical boundaries and ensure student safety at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with supervising BCBAs, teachers, and families to ensure student progress.
  • Complete required documentation and follow district/BECS protocols.

Qualifications

  • Active CBT credential.
  • Experience working with children or students with ASD or behavioral needs in home-based, clinical or educational settings.
  • Understanding of ABA principles, behavior strategies, or special education practices.
  • Ability to follow structured intervention plans with fidelity and collect precise data.
  • Strong communication, patience, empathy, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with ASL, AAC apps/devices, or alternative communication is a plus.
  • Crisis intervention certification (CPI, Right Response, Safety-Care) is highly desirable.
  • Trauma-informed care training or experience encouraged.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active CBT credential.
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass WA State fingerprinting background check.
  • Valid WA Driver’s License.
  • Reliable personal transportation (required for school-to-school support).
  • Ability to lift 35+ lbs, support student movement, and respond quickly in safety situations.
  • Three professional references.
  • Completion of required BECS onboarding and training modules.
