Associate Therapist (AMFT) – Group Practice in Marin County, CA

Hybrid (Primarily Virtual) | Employee Position

We are a warm, relationship-oriented therapy group in Marin County looking for a thoughtful, kind, and motivated AMFT / ACSW / APCC to join us.

Our work is deeply rooted in EFT and attachment-based approaches, and we combine this with practical tools from CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care.

We value authenticity, curiosity, humility, and the ability to laugh at ourselves. Our team culture is supportive, collaborative, and truly invested in helping new clinicians grow with confidence and heart. We offer high-quality supervision, a strong commitment to professional development, and a culture grounded in genuine connection.

This is a minimum 2 Year commitment to be an Associate in our practice. New Associates are encouraged to apply.

About Our Practice

Our clients include individuals, couples, young adults, and adult families with a strong emphasis on relationship and attachment work.

We love helping therapists grow into confident, skilled clinicians through high-quality supervision and the encouragement to find their unique voice as a therapist.

Position Summary

The Associate Therapist will provide quality psychotherapy to individuals and couples, primarily through Telehealth, with one possible in-office day per week in Marin County. This is an employee (W-2) position working with insurance clients.

You will receive superior supervision and training primarily in attachment-based models like EFT and AEDP. To round out your training, we also provide supervision in more solution-focused models like CBT and DBT.

In addition, we are 'Deliberate Practice' Supervision, which means that you have the advantage of being exposed to this cutting edge modality.

The ideal candidate is humble, eager to learn, warm, empathic, professional, and collaborative.

Compensation

  • $35 per client hour
  • Minimum wage paid for weekly supervision hours
  • Generous referrals provided, plus expectation of building an individual caseload through your own marketing
  • Limited sick pay
  • Optional (unmatched) retirement account
  • Administrative and billing support provided

Schedule & Caseload Expectations

  • 25 client sessions per week (building up to this caseload)
  • Because this is a full caseload position, we require that this be your primary and only clinical job; holding multiple therapy positions often leads to burnout and is not compatible with our expectations or training model
  • Weekly supervision
  • Primarily virtual; must live in the Bay Area (preferably Marin County) to attend office-based sessions once per week
  • We require a two-year commitment to the practice due to the training investment and depth of clinical work involved (ideally you are just beginning with your Associate hours)

Required Qualifications

  • Completed master’s degree in a mental health–related field from an accredited institution
  • Registered AMFT with the California BBS (active registration)
  • Excellent professional references
  • Warm, empathic interpersonal style; receptive, open to feedback, committed to growth
  • Organize notes and charting in a timely manner
  • Reliable internet and private space for Telehealth

Training Requirements

  • Must have completed the EFCT Externship or be willing to complete it within the first month of hire
  • Interest and willingness to train in EFCT (couples) and EFIT (individuals)
  • Comfort working with attachment, relational frameworks, and emotion-focused models

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or strong interest in couples therapy and trauma-informed care
  • Additional training in EFT, attachment theory, CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care
  • Fluency in another language is a plus but not required
  • Commitment to building a long-term caseload
  • Familiarity with marketing basics (we can provide guidance)

You may not be a good fit if:

  • You prefer minimal supervision or have difficulty receiving direct feedback / acknowledging mistakes
  • You’re not looking for a longer-term home (at least a 2-year commitment)
  • You are almost complete with your Associate hours
  • You’re juggling multiple jobs and can’t make this your primary focus
  • You tend to be rigid, overly serious, or uncomfortable with collaboration
  • You struggle with consistency, follow-through, or timely documentation
