MOONLIGHTING PSYCHIATRIST (ON-SITE)

Experteer Overview In this role you will provide on-site Medical Officer on Duty coverage for an acute adult inpatient population at Eastern State Hospital. You’ll work flexible, scheduled shifts including weeknights, weekends and holidays, with on-site lodging available. You will perform psychiatric/medical assessment and triage, contributing to high-quality inpatient care within a mission-driven state hospital. This opportunity lets you augment your income while gaining experience in a busy, multidisciplinary setting. Compensation / Benefits • Provide on-site psychiatric/medical coverage as Medical Officer on Duty • Assess and triage psychiatric and general medical conditions for acute adult inpatients • Work 12- or 15-hour shifts with on-site lodging and shift rotation • Maintain on-site presence for entire shift and comply with shift limits • Coordinate with hospital staff to ensure patient care coverage during nights, weekends and holidays Tasks • MD or DO degree • Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry (BC/BE) • Unrestricted Virginia medical license • Valid DEA registration • Must reside within driving distance to campus • Completion or enrollment in an accredited psychiatry residency program Key requirements • malpractice insurance covered by Commonwealth of Virginia • furnished bedroom in MOD lounge • flexible shifts (weeknights, weekends, holidays) • opportunity to augment income • on-site support during shifts
