About the Role:
LBAPS is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate School Counselor (LCSW/LMHC) to provide comprehensive mental health and academic support to students. The counselor will work closely with families, teachers, and administrators to promote student well-being, academic success, and social-emotional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions tailored to each student’s needs.
- Design, implement, and monitor academic and behavioral interventions that support IEP goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to identify and address student challenges.
- Conduct crisis intervention and provide immediate support for students in distress.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential records of counseling sessions and progress.
- Advocate for student mental health needs within the school and broader community.
- Participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development initiatives.
- Assist with parent and staff training on social-emotional development and behavioral strategies.
Requirements:
- Active NYS LCSW or LMHC license.
- Proven experience in school counseling, child and adolescent mental health, or related field.
- In-depth understanding of developmental, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting students.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across teams.
- Proficiency in documentation and educational/mental health reporting systems.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and empathy.

Pay: $75.00 - $100.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
