SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Employment Specialist/Vocational Counselor staff person will provide ongoing supportive, educational, and monitoring services to clients registered in ORS of PROS and/or with the potential for vocational ORS services and will assist the individual in identifying meaningful and attainable goals with linkages to the community. This position would conduct such above services as regulated under the N.Y.S. Office of Mental Health, including off-sites required with clients. Individual clients work in integrated competitive employment or in an integrated educational program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide ongoing assistance and monitoring to clients in ORS.
- Assist individuals to identify goals that result in significant life change.
- Provide client with individualized recovery planning through both individuals and group counseling.
- Provide community living exploration to assist in meeting goals.
- Provide specialized education through appropriate lesson planning in assigned groups.
- Complete required paperwork in timely and measurable manner.
- Complete daily group attendance forms and individual counseling session forms for billing and record auditing purposes utilizing HER.
- Communicate openly with Director, Clinical Supervisor, clients, assigned clinician, and off-site contacts.
- Perform crisis intervention as necessary.
- Spend 50% to 65% of total work hours offsite and provide documentation.
- Provide monthly program statistics.
- Input client data into the NYESS System.
- Act as client advocate while remaining within the boundaries of team approach concept.
- Provide on-site and off-site, visits as necessary. ORS is provided off site.
- Provide telehealth services as appropriate.
- Liaison with affiliated agencies.
- Attend all furthering educational in-services as required.
- Provide two 30-minute or four 15-minute ORS individual services a month to each ORS participant. Services must occur on a minimum of 2 separate days, with at least 1 service per month with the individual only.
- Provide appropriate as needed Vocational Services.
- Complete monthly ORS required documentation and notes.
- Engage in supervision with the Clincial Supervisor.
- Provide weekly groups as scheduled or one daily for employment or vocational support.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of Associates Degree College with course of study in mental health with vocational training preferred. Education in servicing component; knowledge and experience of working with mental illness; ability to comprehend and relate rehabilitative needs and outcomes; skills and application of motivational, educational, and cognitive behavioral methods. Must be supportive, positive and work as a team member. Must be able to work independently, demonstrate good communication, time management, and organizational skills, work independently and as a team member. A person who has experience supporting employment and educational goals for individuals is preferred.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee must be able to travel to appointments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Usually works in an office environment. Travel to appointments in various locations throughout the community. The noise level is usually moderate. Utilizes technology to provide telehealth services as appropriate.
