Residential Counselor

Through the years, DISC Village has become recognized as a leader in the state for initiating, managing and coordinating substance abuse prevention/intervention, family welfare and delinquency programs in Leon County and North Florida.

Position: Residential Counselor

Programs: Sisters in Sobriety (SIS) & Mothers in Sobriety (MIS)

We are seeking (2) dedicated Residential Counselors to join our team supporting adult women in recovery through our SIS and MIS residential substance abuse treatment programs. These programs focus on clinical treatment, relapse prevention, and the development of individualized aftercare plans.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Conduct two individual sessions per week during a client’s orientation period, and one session per week thereafter, with proper documentation.
• Provide crisis counseling as needed, with documentation in progress notes and log books.
• Complete an initial treatment plan within 72 hours of admission and a master treatment plan within 14 days.
• Conduct monthly treatment plan reviews (case staffing reports).
• Prepare discharge plans and summaries for clients exiting the program.
• Facilitate therapeutic groups and provide ongoing support and intervention.
• Work every other weekend and at least one evening shift per week.

Qualifications:

• Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Criminology, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science field with at least two years of experience in substance abuse or residential treatment.
• Preferred: Experience in a residential substance abuse treatment setting.
• Strong professional boundaries, confidentiality, and respectful interaction with clients and staff.
