Description :Department: Varied Job Status: TemporaryFLSA Status: SeasonalReports to: Program Director/Training Outpatient ManagerPositions Supervised: None Amount of Travel Required: MinimalWork Schedule: Monday – Friday, tailored around student’s schedule and program needsPosition SummaryAs an Astra Mental Health and Recovery Master’s Level Student, you will work in a stimulating and collaborative environment where you will gain exposure to diverse clients and perspectives. Students are encouraged to network with other employees and build relationships across disciplines as well as with other students.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAs a 1st Year Master’s Level Student (generalist practicum in social work), you may have the opportunity to work in the following areas:
  • Observe and job shadow staff.
  • Job shadowing may focus on attendant care services, psychosocial group services, case management services, wraparound services, parent support services and/or crisis resolution program services.
  • Plan curriculum and/or help administer curriculum and interventions.
  • Co-facilitate group therapy and/or parent education classes.
  • Attend various trainings during the placement period, on various clinical topics.
  • Research and present on a topic selected by the Training Director and Student. Student will present to a specific internal audience, coordinated through Family Service & Guidance Center’s Training Director.
  • Additional duties as assigned by your field instructor.
As a 2nd Year - Master’s Level Student (clinical social work or master’s psychology practicum), you may have the opportunity to work in the following areas:
  • Job shadowing may focus on outpatient therapy services.
  • Provide co-therapy with identified fully licensed clinician.
  • Co-facilitate group therapy and/or parent education classes with a licensed clinician.
  • Research and present on a topic selected by the Training Director and Student. Student will present to a specific internal audience, coordinated through Family Service & Guidance Center’s Training Director.
  • Present and/or lead clinical trainings during placement period.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Licensure:
  • Current enrollment and in good standing in an accredited master’s degree program majoring in social work or psychology.
  • Must successfully pass the KBI and DCF Central Registry background investigations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
Experience:
  • Passion and desire to work with children and families.
  • 0-6 months experience working with children.
