Description:
The College of Education at the University of Houston–Clear Lake invites applications for a 9-month, full-time tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member in our CACREP accredited counseling program. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in the Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling programs, building and sustaining partnerships with community mental health agencies and schools, providing supervision and clinical oversight for students in internships, contributing to program governance and accreditation efforts, and engaging in service to the school, college, university, community, and the profession.
Duties:
- Provide teaching and supervision across the clinical mental health and school counseling curriculum, supporting program and student needs.
- Contribute actively to curriculum design and program enhancement, ensuring alignment with a broad representation of current research, and industry trends.
- Conduct and publish high-quality research in reputable academic journals and present findings at conferences, contributing to the field's knowledge base.
- Engage in service activities within the department, college, university, and professional organizations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ph.D. in Counseling; Ph.D. in Counselor Education; Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP accredited program.
- Currently credentialed as an LPC or LPC-S, or qualified to obtain these credentials in the state of Texas.
- Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction; written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities; ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
- A record of, or potential for, a scholarly research agenda with the future promise of significant scholarly publications and/or grants
Preferred:
- Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations, research, and academic innovation across the college's academic departments and university.
