A K-12 school in Azle, TX is seeking a skilled counselor to provide specialized support to students with moderate needs. This contract position runs from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026, with a 37.5-hour workweek. The role involves managing a caseload of 40+ students, conducting counseling evaluations, participating in ARD meetings and staffings, and collaborating with Behavior Interventionist Coordinators (BIC) staff to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling for K-12 students with moderate special education needs
- Complete comprehensive counseling evaluations and maintain accurate records
- Attend Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and other staffings to provide input on student progress and planning
- Work closely with special education staff and behavior intervention teams to develop and implement effective support strategies
- Perform other assigned duties to support the counseling program and student well-being
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid counseling certification appropriate for K-12 educational settings
- Experience working with students who have moderate special education needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students, parents, and school staff
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced school environment
- Knowledge of counseling best practices and special education compliance
