About the Role
Inwood Community Services (ICS) is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Parenting/Youth Group Facilitator & Early Intervention Specialist to support youth and families in the Inwood and Washington Heights community. This role focuses on evidence-based prevention programming, parenting and youth group facilitation, and early intervention counseling aimed at increasing protective factors and reducing risk factors related to substance use, anxiety, and depression in youth.
This is NOT a remote position. Although the program operates on a hybrid model, all roles require 2–3 in-person days per week for facilitation, school visits, outreach, and team collaboration.
Mondays and Wednesdays are primary required office days.
Evening hours (e.g., 11am–7pm or 12:30pm–8:30pm) are required to meet the schedules of parents and youth.
Non-evening shifts typically follow a 9am–5pm schedule.

Key ResponsibilitiesEarly Intervention & Counseling
- Provide early intervention services to youth and adults using models such as Teen Intervene, SBIRT, and Skills for Psychological Recovery.
- Conduct intakes, assessments, referrals, and follow-up contacts.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Group Facilitation & Prevention Programming
- Facilitate parenting skills groups such as Triple P (Positive Parenting Program).
- Facilitate youth groups including Boys Council, Girls Circle, and Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET).
- Deliver substance use prevention workshops and interactive activities.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum-based programming.
Community Engagement
- Conduct outreach, recruitment, and screening of participants.
- Maintain engagement with families and youth.
- Participate in school and community events (e.g., school fairs).
- Collaborate with community partners and service providers.
Administrative & Program Operations
- Administer pre/post tests and satisfaction surveys.
- Track attendance, progress notes, referrals, and outcomes.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
QualificationsEducation
- Master’s degree preferred in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related Social Sciences field.
- LMSW, LCSW, LMHC licensure is NOT required.
- This role does not provide clinical hours toward licensure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (e.g., Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Social Work) with relevant experience will be considered.
Experience & Skills
- Experience facilitating groups with adults/parents.
- Experience working with youth programs in both English and Spanish.
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written) in English and Spanish.
- Ability to work some evenings and 2–3 days onsite weekly.
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
- Basic proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Meet). Training can be provided.
- Access to a computer and reliable internet for hybrid duties.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Credentialed Prevention Professional/Specialist (CPP/CPS).
- At least 1 year of experience in substance use prevention, youth services, or family programming (ages 7–19).
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $35/hour (Masters Degree)
- Hourly Rate: $20/hour (Bachelor's Degree)
