CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.Requisition ID 2025-444162 Employment Type Full Time Department Outpatient Chemical Dependency Svcs Hours/Pay Period 80 Shift Day Weekly Schedule M-F, 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM Remote No Category Mental HealthJob Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe Chemical Dependency Counselor is responsible for providing the counseling services to the patients and families, i.e., individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling and case management to the Chemical Dependency Outpatient Department. Also is responsible for chart documentation, utilization review, and authorization of insurance and clinical review with insurance companies. This position requires providing service to a one or more age populations including a child, adolescent/teen, adult and geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).Essential functions include but not limited to:
- Assures that the rights of the patient/family are respected and maintained.
- Allows for privacy and modesty in the provision of care.
- Identifies self by name and title to patient/family.
- Reports suspected cases of abuse/neglect, if identified.
- Assesses the physical, psycho-social, cultural, functional, high risk and needs of the patient and family
- Current CA Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
- Current Healthcare provider BLS Card
- A minimum of one (1) year's experience in a Psychiatric/Chemical Dependency setting is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in an Allied Health Field such as Psychology, Counseling, Social Work
