MDA’s Wellness Program supports students' mental, emotional, and physical well-being through tailored services. Led by our Part-Time Wellness Coordinator and trained interns, the program fosters a culture of care with individual counseling, restorative circles, and conflict resolution workshops.
The Part-Time Wellness Coordinator has primary responsibility for:
Student Wellness Services
- Carry a caseload of 10+ students.
- Oversee 3-4 Counseling Interns and their individual caseloads (10+ high-priority Title1 students).
- Coordinate with the Center for Child and Family Development; and, stay up-to-date on relevant resources for students and families.
- Provide school-based family counseling, and refer families to outside resources, as needed.
Integration of Services
- Work closely with colleagues to deliver services that support student well-being.
- Offer insights on initiatives that enhance student success, such as homework policies, study halls, and 1:1 time.
Job Qualifications and Skills:
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
- Counseling background required
- Must maintain or be in process of getting a current and valid license, for ONE of the following: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) -or-Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). If supervision is required, the school will provide payment for supervision requirement.
Work Experience
- At least two years of experience working with students, families, and educators in a K-8 urban school setting.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain policies, systems, schedules, and student support documentation.
- Background in conflict resolution and restorative justice practices within school environments.
- Experience supervising counseling interns and overseeing their caseloads.
Skills
- Fluency in English and Spanish required
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in modern office software.
- Ability to adapt to evolving environments.
