SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:


Manages monitors and delivers the Introduction to Center Life Program, activities, and related events. Manages monitors and delivers the Counseling Program, activities and related events.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manages the Introduction to Center Life Program, including curriculum review and program compliance.
  • Provides supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for assigned staff.
  • Ensures that CPP staff effectively administer the MyPACE program in addition to all required PRH topics. Ensures all Career Plans and PARs are completed and correct and are properly stored and updated.
  • Ensures that ESPs are administered timely and effectively, including clear short and long term goals and that consistent progress is made.
  • Ensures that Counselor(s) have measures in place to assist with student commitment to center (e.g. individual and group counseling to include homesickness and coping skills, appropriate referrals/plans for additional support,)
  • Ensure the compliance of Counseling group facilitation and documentation. Plans, organizes, directs and administers the Career Counseling Program and actively participates in the Center’s OMS meeting.
  • Ensures that all efforts have been exhausted in the event of a resignation or Unauthorized Absences.
  • Monitors classrooms, dormitory meetings, routine and crises (for at-risk students) counseling sessions, and recreational activities.
  • Ensures smooth transition of students from the Career Preparation Period (CPP) to the Career Development Period (CDP).
  • Monitors and administers a departmental budget and works within budgetary constraints
  • Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:


  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, able to write creatively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous documentation/recording skills and attention to detail; excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in a wide variety of circumstances related to students services.
  • Ability to encourage teamwork
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and advanced knowledge in implementing plans to respond to CPP related issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to effectively relate to students
  • Proficient in the use of computer software (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field. Education must include 15 semester hours of instruction in Social Services.


EXPERIENCE:


  • Two years of related experience with youth preferred. One-year experience in a supervisory capacity.


OTHER:


  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • May be required to work a flex schedule to include evenings and/or weekends
