Alamance Academy Day is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and growth-oriented Counseling Support Specialist to join our therapeutic educational team. Under the supervision and guidance of our licensed Student & Family Counselor, the Clinical Support Aide will provide direct therapeutic services to students and families while contributing to a trauma-informed, emotionally supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities (Under direct supervision of the Student & Family Counselor):

  • Conduct check-ins with assigned students to address emotional regulation, trauma, behavioral challenges, and social-emotional development.
  • Implement individualized counseling plans in collaboration with staff, caregivers, and the student.
  • Facilitate small groups focusing on topics such as anger management, coping skills, peer relationships, conflict resolution, and self-esteem.
  • Support family counseling sessions to strengthen communication and family systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation, including session notes, treatment plans, and family outreach logs.
  • Prepare professional summaries and correspondence for internal and external use while upholding strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and refine interventions.
  • Consult with school staff on trauma-informed practices and behavior management strategies.
  • Contribute to the school’s therapeutic culture and promote a safe, predictable, and emotionally responsive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related mental health field required. (Graduate Degree and Licensure In Progress preferred)
  • Experience working with children or adolescents, particularly those with behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care and family systems work.
  • Strong clinical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, ethical integrity, and discretion.
  • Passion for supporting students and families within an educational setting.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Internship

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
