Seeking clinician with substance abuse experience or knowledge. Must have the appropriate credentials (CADC/CATC) registered with an AOD governing body in California.

Part time and full time positions available. We have two locations, both located in Los Angeles 90019.

Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Counselor will include conducting individual and group counseling sessions, clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, caseload management, and clinical supervision conducted by the Clinical Director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A credential with a California Chemical Dependency governing body (CADC/CATC). Must be fully credentialed.
  • Maintains current First Aid and CPR training, valid California Driver’s license and provides copies of all current certifications to the Facility.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the field
  • Competent in individual, family, didactic and group therapy modalities. Assumes responsibility for own personal and professional growth. Keeps current via professional literature and stays up-to-date with professional techniques, theories and procedures. Observes the facility personnel requirements contained in the policy and procedure manual.

Competencies

  • Build, manage, and lead a full curriculum of programming groups for clients per day in addition to individual, family, assessments, and following documentation thereafter.
  • Maintain a high level of professional practice and promote positive individual relations.
  • Be flexible in scheduling in order to meet individual needs.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and current practices in the field of addiction.
  • Skill in interviewing and performing clinical assessments/screenings and person-centered treatment planning.
  • Skill in effectively conducting individual, group and family sessions with various age groups.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical records.
  • Knowledge and practice of ethical principles.
  • Ability to present ideas with a high degree of effectiveness, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to establish rapport and confidence with consumers and their families and with colleagues.
  • Ability to use the computer for scheduling, billing, and clinical documentation

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides evidenced based interventions based on individual response to treatment.
  • Assess individual’s needs, abilities and behavior using a variety of methods including interviews and direct observation.
  • Works collaboratively with the individual and the clinical team to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses priority needs of the individual, desired treatment outcomes, an agreed upon plan of action, and reassessment.
  • Maintains individual records related to screening, intake, treatment, continuing care, progress toward goals and objectives, discharge summary, and treatment outcomes that are accurate, concise, timely, and useful for coordinating treatment team planning, monitoring, and review (Substance Abuse based experiences).
  • Provides evidenced based interventions based on individual response to treatment.
  • Conducts individual and/or family sessions according to treatment plan of care.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains good rapport with individual, family, clinical staff, other departments, and visitors as well as outside referral sources and physicians.
  • Maintains the highest level of professionalism and is customer service focused at all times.
  • Actively works to build individual case load.
  • Serves as a resource to outpatient center and makes referrals to outside agencies when appropriate.
  • Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
  • Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as company policies that apply to assigned duties.
  • Complies with company expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
  • Daily task of communicating with UR and meeting their requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.
