Pay/Benefits at a Glance:

Pay range for this position is between $23.00 and $29.35 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Fred Finch Youth & Family Services partners with individuals and communities to provide culturally responsive services that cultivate mental and physical resilience and wellness.

The Avalon program provides a safe, stable, and highly structured environment by combining intensive staffing, a milieu culture, mental health interventions and behavior modification. Youth are assessed at in-take and receive on-going evaluation. Individual, group, family and milieu therapy is a part of everyday life. Youth also receive case management, medication support and monitoring, expressive arts, special education, crisis intervention, behavior management and skill-building. The goal of the program is to maximize a resident’s level of functioning to enable them to engage in a pattern of everyday living like that of non-disabled peers. We strive to increase a resident’s abilities to live in a less restrictive environment with less intensive staffing, less formal structure, and more relaxed programming.

What You Will Do:

Under supervision, provides high quality, day-to-day care, and supervision to participants at a residential or housing program to ensure well-being and development of participants while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment in accordance with program regulations and philosophy, Fred Finch (hereinafter FF) policies and procedures, and accreditation standards; and performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program


  • The education and experience for Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) must follow the requirements as outlined by regulation and are listed below.
  • STRTP (Education and Experience as Outlined by California’s Code of Regulations, Title 22; Personnel Requirements Section 87065:
  • Direct care staff shall meet one of the following requirements prior to employment:
  • Have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree;
  • Have a valid Child Development Teaching Permit;
  • Have completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth;
  • Have a valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
  • Have a valid Vocational Training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth; or
  • Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic center for at least one year.
  • Have relevant experience as determined by the department to meet any of the above requirements.
  • Direct care staff shall be at least 21 years of age.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, a satisfactory driving record, and a properly registered and insured vehicle, to be maintained throughout employment.

Housing Program

Education

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience

  • One (1) year of providing support services or working in a residential or housing program with a similar population.
