Job Title: Counselor
As a Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding individuals and families through their challenges, fostering resilience, and promoting mental well-being. You will utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to support clients in achieving their personal goals and overcoming obstacles. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing compassionate care and effective interventions tailored to each client's unique needs.
What you’ll do
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients in high-stress situations.
- Facilitate child and family counseling sessions, addressing dynamics and enhancing communication.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, adhering to HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care and effective case management.
- Engage in telehealth sessions, expanding access to mental health services for clients.
- Stay informed on the latest clinical research and best practices in behavioral health.
Basic qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid counseling license or certification as required by state regulations.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those facing addiction challenges.
Preferred qualifications
- Proficiency in various therapeutic modalities such as Art Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, or Dance Therapy.
- Experience with crisis management and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, patient assessment techniques, and chronic pain counseling.
- Background in special education or working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
