Recreation Therapist (RECT) – Correctional Facility | San Diego, CA | Full-Time
Schedule: Full-Time
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement individualized recreation therapy programs tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Enhance patients’ social interaction, coping strategies, physical fitness, and daily living skills through structured activities.
- Facilitate patient reintegration into the general population or transition to other levels of care.
- Conduct individualized evaluations to assess patient needs in the following areas:
- Activities of daily living
- Communication and social skills
- Physical activity and exercise routines
- Behavioral interventions and coping mechanisms
- Collaborate with clinical and custodial staff during Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Promote continuity of therapeutic services and patient progress across different care settings.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 24 continuous months of experience within the last 3 years providing recreation therapy services in a similar setting (public or private institution).
- Internship experience does not count toward the required experience.
Licensure/Certification:
- Must hold all valid and current licenses, permits, and/or certifications required for the position.
Language Proficiency:
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English to ensure effective communication and proper coordination of care.
- Candidates who do not meet this standard will not be permitted to perform services.
