Job Overview
As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals facing mental health challenges. You will work alongside a dedicated team to ensure the safety and well-being of patients in various settings, including hospitals and correctional facilities. Your expertise in psychiatric care, crisis intervention, and behavior management will be essential in helping patients achieve their recovery goals.
What you’ll do
- Assist in the implementation of patient care plans under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
- Monitor and observe patients to assess their mental and emotional status, documenting any changes accurately.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during acute episodes, ensuring patient safety at all times.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
- Engage with patients through therapeutic communication to foster trust and encourage participation in treatment activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective behavioral health strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in patient observation, medical terminology, and psychiatric care.
Basic qualifications
- Experience or education in nursing or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices.
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in acute care settings.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for effective patient observation.
- Experience in corrections facility medical clinics is a plus.
