This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program, a student loan payment reimbursement program. The VA New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHCS) is a multi-site medical system that includes a major medical facility in Manhattan, Brooklyn, St. Albans campus in Queens, and two Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). VA NYHHCS is an academic facility with teaching and research programs.
This Psychiatrist position is located in the Mental Health Service at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center. This position supports the Network's mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. Each Psychiatrist functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
* Serves as psychiatry consultant to inpatient acute med/surg services
* Serves as consulting psychiatrist to Primary Care Medical Home model as part of Primary Care/Mental Health Integration
* May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned.
* Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
