Role Description

The Collaborating Psychiatrist will provide clinical oversight and consultation to one or more Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) within HAWON Services. The role focuses on ensuring safe, evidence-based psychiatric care through periodic chart reviews, case discussions, and availability for consultation as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active and unrestricted California Medical License (MD or DO).
• Board certification in Psychiatry is preferred but not required, as long as the physician has experience or prior exposure in providing psychiatric care, such as prescribing psychotropic medications or supervising mental health treatment.
• Comfortable collaborating with Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) practicing within the scope of behavioral health and psychopharmacology.
• Familiar with California’s standardized procedures and collaborative practice requirements for NPs.
• Willing to engage in periodic case reviews, consultations, and quality oversight to support safe and evidence-based care.
