POSITION SUMMARY :
Pacific Oaks College is seeking qualified Adjunct Professors to teach in the Marriage & Family Therapy Department. Adjunct faculty are eligible to teach across all MFT programs: Traditional, Trauma, Latinx, African American, and LGBTQIA+ tracks . Faculty are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, fostering student engagement, and supporting success in alignment with Pacific Oaks’ mission and values.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to culturally centered pedagogy, anti-bias teaching practices, and inclusive excellence, ensuring that our diverse student body is supported in meaningful ways.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Teaching & Instruction
- Deliver graduate-level instruction in Marriage & Family Therapy courses across all program tracks.
- Utilize Canvas LMS for course delivery (training provided).
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and assess student progress.
- Adapt teaching methods for diverse adult learner populations.
Curriculum & Collaboration
- Follow existing syllabi (curriculum is pre-built; no syllabus development is required).
- Collaborate with program leadership and faculty on ongoing course improvements.
- Participate in adjunct faculty meetings at least once per term (while teaching).
Student Engagement & Support
- Communicate regularly with students via email, LMS, or Zoom.
- Foster inclusive, anti-oppressive, and equitable classroom environments.
- Support non-traditional learners, including working professionals and returning students.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of clinical experience.
- Teaching or professional practice experience in the subject area.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
Preferred
- Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field.
- Active licensure (LMFT or equivalent).
- Experience with Canvas or other LMS platforms.
- Published research, presentations, or professional contributions.
TECHNOLOGY & ENVIROMENT:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet-based teaching tools.
- Ability to conduct Zoom meetings and deliver instruction using Canvas LMS.
- Quiet, tech-ready home workspace required for remote teaching.

DECISION MAKING:
The position is governed by the policies of Pacific Oaks, along with established procedures for the department. Independent judgment is required in the supervision of personnel as well as in the carrying out of the department's strategic goals and budget management.
CONTACT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Routine exchange or presentation of information.
Responsible for demonstrating professionalism and leadership in resolving conflicts with students and employees. Recommends alternative approaches to solve problems and conflicts.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does require management of budgets, but it is required to follow Pacific Oaks policies for purchasing and budget approvals.

This opportunity is budgeted at $25.00-27.50 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
