General Purpose of the Position:
The Clinical Therapist is a professional member of the team who provides clinical services for the Facility. The services are performed in accordance with the patient’s individualized treatment, state and national laws and licensing and accrediting regulations.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling is required. Ability to be registered with the New Jersey Board of Behavioral Sciences is required. Strong clinical skills in individual, experience in family and group therapy.
Licensed Professional Counselor, LMFT,LCSW, LCADC, and at least one year
of experience in detox or Addiction Services.
Reports to: Clinical Director
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Actively participates in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
2. Shares pertinent information with team as obtained from patient’s family, or others as indicated throughout program.
3. Attends daily and weekly staffing meetings per schedule.
4. Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
5. Facilitates group therapy.
6. Performs therapy with patient/family.
7. Documents the assessment of patient progress/regress and interventions provided in the medical record, on an ongoing basis.
8. Recognizes, responds to, and assists in psychiatric crisis situations and provide the intervention necessary.
9. Responds and assists in medical emergency situations as directed and needed.
10. Communicates effectively with patient, staff, and physician.
11. Provides patients with education and instruction on a 12-step program.
12. Attends and participates in monthly Program Staff meeting as scheduled by Director of Substance Abuse.
13. Adheres to policies and procedures.
14. Conducts topic groups, displaying good theoretical knowledge of subject matter and effective communication skills in delivering material.
15. Completes all documentation including treatment planning, progress notes and discharge summary maintaining compliance with the policies and procedures of the facility.
16. Maintains appropriate and timely communication with referral sources and other significant contacts, conveying a positive professional image.
17. Conducts individual and couples/family sessions.
18. Coordinate aftercare planning with aftercare planner relevant to the patient’s needs, document contacts and complete the Aftercare Plan with specific appointment time and provider.
19. Completes regular collateral phone contacts family, referents, and significant others.
20. Performs other duties assigned.

Desirable Skills:
Proficiency in basic computer skills, operation and experience with keyboarding. Have the ability to work with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
