Job Purpose:
Key Responsibilities:
- The Counselor I II at Behavioral Health Services Inc is responsible for providing professional counseling services to clients in need of behavioral health support. This role involves assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions to promote mental and emotional well-being. The Counselor I II will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients to identify their mental health needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Participate in regular supervision and professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
- Educate clients and their families about mental health issues and available resources to support recovery and well-being.
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare system and the community.
- Stay informed about current trends and developments in the field of behavioral health to provide the highest quality of care.
Required Education:
Required Experience:
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred for advanced counseling roles.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a counseling or therapeutic role, preferably within a behavioral health setting.
- Experience working with diverse populations and understanding the unique challenges faced by individuals with mental health issues.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing treatment plans tailored to individual client needs.
- Experience in crisis intervention and the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
