Behavior Technician – Job Description

Position Summary:
The Behavior Technician (BT) provides direct 1:1 support to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities using evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the BT helps clients build communication, social, academic, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement individualized ABA programs as designed by the supervising BCBA
  • Collect and record accurate data on client progress and behavior
  • Follow behavior intervention plans and safety protocols
  • Support clients in home, school, clinic, or community settings
  • Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and team members
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require college coursework in psychology, education, or related fields)
  • Completion of RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Strong communication, patience, and adaptability
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality

Work Environment:

  • Sessions may take place in homes, schools, clinics, or community settings
  • Physical activity may be required (e.g., play-based learning, movement support)
  • Flexible hours, often including afternoons and weekends

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
