Behavior Technician – Job Description
Position Summary:
The Behavior Technician (BT) provides direct 1:1 support to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities using evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the BT helps clients build communication, social, academic, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized ABA programs as designed by the supervising BCBA
- Collect and record accurate data on client progress and behavior
- Follow behavior intervention plans and safety protocols
- Support clients in home, school, clinic, or community settings
- Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and team members
- Participate in ongoing training and supervision sessions
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require college coursework in psychology, education, or related fields)
- Completion of RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
Work Environment:
- Sessions may take place in homes, schools, clinics, or community settings
- Physical activity may be required (e.g., play-based learning, movement support)
- Flexible hours, often including afternoons and weekends
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
