Chemical Dependency Counselor (Contract)
Shift: 5x8 Hours – Days (5:00 AM – 1:30 PM)
Duration: 13 Weeks (Contractual)
Location: Brasstown, NC 28902

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Chemical Dependency Counselor to join our team on a 13-week contract assignment in Brasstown, NC. This role is critical in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing counseling, education, and treatment coordination. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical skills, a passion for patient care, and the ability to guide patients through their recovery journey with empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments using ASI criteria and develop individualized treatment plans
- Provide individual counseling sessions, patient education, and ongoing clinical services
- Deliver opioid addiction counseling for patients in methadone maintenance and detoxification programs
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate therapy effectiveness, and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Coordinate care and communicate patient status with the interdisciplinary treatment team
- Assist in program evaluation initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality services
- Ensure full compliance with Federal and State OTP regulations
Requirements
- Active State Certification/Licensure in Chemical Dependency Counseling (or in process of obtaining)
- Proven experience working with addicted populations
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in:
- Conducting patient assessments
- Utilizing ASI criteria for patient placement
- Treatment plan development and implementation
- Service coordination and crisis intervention
- Previous experience in an opioid treatment program (OTP) setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an opioid treatment program (OTP) setting
- Familiarity with methadone maintenance and detox protocols
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with treatment teams
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and ethical counseling practices
