Wayne County Mental Health Department is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to work closely with the clinic staff in planning, developing and implementing a sound program which provides services and facilities to promote mental health wellness.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a current valid New York State license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and graduation from a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program, registered by the New York State Education Department or graduation from an equivalent program approved by the New York State Education Department and two (2) years professional nursing experience.
Special requirement: Possession of a current valid Certificate to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner issued by the New York State Education Department.

Typical Work Activities:
- Makes nursing assessments of actual or potential health problems by case findings and health counseling;
- Provides primary comprehensive health appraisals for clinic clients;
- Initiates, facilitates and interprets preventive, developmental and diagnostic procedures;
- Assists in identifying goals and objectives, policies and procedures for the clinic health program;
- Provides health information individually to clients and their families;
- Performs comprehensive examinations, including physical, neurodevelopmental, social, emotional, and/or any other assessments deemed appropriate;
- Reviews and develops cumulative health records for clients;
- Establishes appropriate policies and procedures for clinic health services in collaboration with administrators;
- Provides mental health guidance that prepares clients to participate on a knowledgeable basis in their own health care;
- Obtains medical histories of clients by collecting data on background, physical and mental condition, medications or treatments and other pertinent information;
- In collaboration with the Physician, orders routine and laboratory tests, such as CBC, blood chemistry, urinalysis, serology, etc.;
- Prepares a variety of records and reports.
Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $126,000.00 per year
