Community Service Coordinator Position

The Cesar Chavez Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves low-income families in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas through affordable housing and social service programs.

Under the direction of the Regional Program Coordinator, the Community Service Coordinator oversees the operations of the Si Se Puede Community Center programs and related activities. This position involves the use of judgment, supervisory ability, and skills in resident/community planning. The position requires implementing and supervising programs, classes and activities for effectiveness. The position requires supervision of residents, volunteers, and student interns. Community Service Coordinators are required to outreach to the community and establish partnership when needed.

THE RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Uphold Ethical Standards: Maintain all ethical practices of the Cesar Chavez Foundation by serving the community with character, integrity, dignity, and professionalism.
  • Program Management: Oversee and Provide the Si Se Puede Community Center Programs, including the Afterschool Program and Resident Social Services, ensuring compliance with site requirements.
  • Program Administration: Review lesson plans, prepare materials, take attendance, and conduct daily program overviews.
  • Behavior and Safety: Enforce Afterschool Program behavior policies and safety procedures.
  • Communication: Create and distribute monthly newsletters, calendars, and flyers for events and resources. Outreach to partnerships and residents of the community also required.
  • Engagement: Foster a friendly and welcoming environment for members and visitors.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate record keeping and document retention systems, and compile comprehensive reports.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with partners like Toys for Tots to bring a joyful Christmas to the students in the Community.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred - Have at least 48 units of college credit from a two-year accredited college or related experience in Education/Youth Development/Community Services
  • Preferably bilingual
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel/Access) required
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Live scan Fingerprint/ background check
  • Must provide proof of a negative TB test result taken within the last 2 years
  • A valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record for the past three years
  • This position does require the individual to commute between sites
  • Must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified (or obtain within 30 days) and maintain those certifications
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as required for transportation, set up and conducting activities
  • The ability to create partnerships to ensure all site/programming requirements are being met

Pay Range:

$19.00 -$22.00 Hourly
