Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and guidance to individuals struggling with addiction and related mental health issues. You will work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans, facilitate group therapy sessions, and conduct assessments to monitor progress. Your expertise in various therapeutic techniques will be crucial in helping clients achieve recovery and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of clients to determine their needs and develop effective treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions, encouraging participation and fostering a supportive environment for clients to share their experiences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for clients, including referrals for additional services as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality of client information.
- Monitor client progress through regular follow-ups and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on feedback and assessment results.
- Provide crisis management support for clients experiencing acute distress or emergencies, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Skills
- Proficient in psychotherapy techniques, including behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing.
- Experience in child & family counseling, home & community care, hospital settings, PTSD care, and addiction medicine.
- Strong background in social work, case management, patient assessment, intake processes, and individual/group counseling.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds while maintaining professional boundaries.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or G.E.D and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC), substance use disorder
· Certified Counselor (SUDCC, SUDCC II, III, IV)
· Six (6) months’ experience in addictions setting
· All certifications must be maintained for duration of employment
· Sensitivity to multi-cultural populations and issues
· Must be credentialed as a qualified mental health professional, where applicable
· Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be CPR and First Aid, on date of employment or prior to providing direct client care and maintain current certification throughout employment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
