Options for Community Living, Inc. is looking for an Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Residential Counselor to join our team! An ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

  • Have a passion for assisting those diagnosed with mental illness. Must be a self-starter and well organized.
  • Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license, safe driving record, valid auto insurance and access to a vehicle is required.

Salary Range: $36,400/yr. ($20.00/hr.) - $43,680/yr. ($24.00/hr.)

The above salary range represents Options for Community Living's good faith and reasonable estimate of potential compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job posting and may be modified in the future. When determining a salary offer, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education level, language skillset, credentials, professional licensure, budget, and internal equity).

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (35 hours/week)

Location - In person; Ronkonkoma, NY

Pay Type: Non-exempt

Responsibilities:

At Options for Community Living, Inc., individuals living with a mental health diagnosis live, learn, and develop their potential in an environment that respects personal choice. The ADL Residential Counselor provides various support services to the residents and is responsible for training and assisting residents in the activities of daily living. Reports to the Program Supervisor.

  • Participate in the development of individual service plans and monitor plan objectives.
  • Train and assist residents in the activities of daily living, including rising in the morning and preparing for daytime activities.
  • Assist residents with skills needed to engage in the community, daily, such as arranging and being prepared for transportation, delivering services directed at grooming and hygiene, providing one on one direction with laundry when needed, etc.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized household.
  • Provide information regarding community resources and orient residents to the local area.
  • Intervene in situations regarding immediate attention to ensure the safety of the residents.
  • Conduct regular group meetings covering various topics that pertain to life skills.
  • Train and assist residents with development of laundry and household cleaning skills.
  • Train and assist residents with personal hygiene and site maintenance objectives.
  • Identify and work to appropriately resolve any health and safety issues at residential sites.
  • Assist residents with budgetary and money management skills.
  • Provide counseling, behavioral intervention and crisis management service while following emergency procedures.
  • Notify the Program Supervisor/Program Manager of any medical or psychiatric emergency.
  • Complete and maintain all training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Any other relevant task as assigned by management.
