Position Title Admissions Counselor-SPS

Position Summary
The Admissions Counselor for the School of Professional Studies ( SPS ) is responsible for presenting educational options through communications, presentations, and events aimed at promoting and showcasing SPS programs features and benefits for prospective military, veteran and civilian students. Position directly solicits interest and responds to inquiries about the respective SPS programs up to and including acceptance into the program. The Admissions Counselor reports to the Assistant Director of Recruitment and Admissions.
Position requires successfully passing a military background check for military base access to center locations.

Required Work Experience
One (1) year of work experience in admissions counseling or a relevant field, such as marketing or recruiting, communications, public relations, or primary/secondary education teaching. Note that additional education will be considered in lieu of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed, to include some evening and weekend work, to meet departmental goals.

Description Of Job Duties
- Represent UIW and the respective programs to prospective students through one-on-one communications, visits to local businesses, military installations, college fairs, and local community events to promote enrollment options. This will require frequent travel (using personal vehicle-mileage reimbursed) to military bases, colleges and partnership locations to enhance and maintain respective relationships.
- Assist team and partners to organize events to bring prospective students to the program.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of marketing materials through market feedback.
- Travel locally and occasionally within Texas for outreach events.

- Respond to admissions inquiries in a timely and personalized manner.
- Continue communication with prospective students including reviewing academic eligibility, completing applications and enrollment utilizing phone, email, messaging, or chat options, in person visits, events and other communication means.
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and distribution of marketing materials including providing market feedback.

- Track student and partner communications and enrollment results in an accurate and timely manner in all university systems.
- Track and communicate progress of applicants working in cooperation with other UIW departments to assist prospective students through the admissions and enrollment process.
- Report progress on student prospect status as designated to management.

- Identify and develop partnerships, recruitment opportunities, organizations, community colleges and appropriate businesses or groups while adhering to university and contractual guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor Degree.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience as an admissions counselor at a university.
- Experience working with Banner and CRM applications.
- Business development experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW (needed for outreach events).
- Must obtain and retain military base clearances for access to center locations.

Physical Demands
- Ability to lift to 15 lbs for set-up/tear-down at events, as well as reach overhead, bend, and squat to retrieve promotional materials.
- Ability to push/pull event carts weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods.
- Ability to regularly move about campus, military bases, and event venues to actively engage potential and current students and attend meetings on and off campus.
