The goal of the Crisis Counseling Program is to assist individuals, families, and communities in recovering from the challenging effects of the catastrophic flooding of the Guadalupe River occurring in the early-morning hours of July 4, 2025. The crisis counseling program Community Liaison will be responsible for building rapport, establishing, and maintaining cooperative relationships with various communities. The Community Liaison will have the most up-to-date knowledge of community, region, and state resources to provide to the CCP team and community. This role will provide resources, referrals, and linkage to persons experiencing needs related to the Guadalupe River flood disaster. The Community Liaison will also identify and problem-solve any barriers persons may be experiencing with navigating care or disaster relief assistance and resources. This is a federally funded grant position that is temporary and is expected to be funded for a minimum of 6 months, but may be extended depending on funding and need.
You will get to:
- Building relationships in local communities and organizations on behalf of the CCP to increase access to different groups, populations, and areas
- Provides introductions and warm hand-offs between the CCP Team and local communities, organizations, and groups
- Provides intensive resource linkage for survivors struggling to access care or disaster relief assistance related to the flood disaster
- Networks with community resources to identify and understand referral mechanisms
- Provides training to the CCP team and other service providers regarding community referral resources and mechanisms
You'll definitely need:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, sociology, behavioral, or human services
- Preferred: Experience in disaster behavioral health work
- Demonstrated familiarity with the local community
- A valid Texas State Driver's License.
- Current automobile insurance and the ability to travel to individuals when necessary.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred.
- Live within 30 miles of the clinic with reliable transportation
We'll also want you to:
- Creates timely and up-to-date resource/referral lists for the CCP and community
- Represents the Crisis Counseling Program in the community and networks with other agencies and partners to ensure the needs of survivors are met
- Submits documentation and data timely, accurately by utilizing the appropriate process/method
- Complete FEMA CCP Trainings
