Job Summary
The Peer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing assistance and guidance to individuals facing various challenges related to mental health and behavioral health. This position requires a compassionate and skilled person who can effectively engage with clients. The Peer Support Specialist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that clients receive the necessary support and resources tailored to their unique needs.
Duties
- Assist with crisis intervention and management services to clients in need of immediate support.
- Conduct assessments to identify client needs and develop appropriate action plans.
- Offer educational support through tutoring.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients toward positive change.
- Mentor clients through their recovery journey, fostering resilience and personal growth.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions
- Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Current student majoring in human service related field
Skills
- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and practices.
- Excellent mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire clients.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on empathy and active listening.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment while also demonstrating independence when necessary.
- Dedicated individual passionate about supporting others through challenging times while promoting mental wellness and recovery strategies.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
